I know they're weeds. I know they spread like crazy and all my neighbors have way fewer of these in their yards than we do. But maybe it's because they're weeds that they're so awesome. What other flower do school children get to pick without ever being scolded? And make up games about? (We had one involving the almighty dandelion predicting whether or not you liked butter. Because that cosmic puzzle is one that we just can't solve without assistance). And make crowns and mama bouquets and wish upon?
I just think these are mighty pretty. That's all I'm trying to say.

It really does look like the BP logo. Minus the gigantic oil stain.
I love dandelions too. Dente de Lion = Lion's Teeth, did you know that? And, they were brought over by early settlers because they come up so early- I remember a primary source diary or some such from college that described a mad-from-lack of Vitamin C (I think?) family literally crawling outside to harvest the first leaves. And we used to use butter-cups under our chins to see whether we had a secret love... Very interesting that you used dandelions to tell you something about, umm, BUTTER. I think someone got a little mixed up for lack of buttercups. Perhaps someone low on vitamin C?
I'll give ya the point that they're charming.
However, for this girl they lose their charm instantly the moment I come into contact with said weed; I am allergic! Don't be too shocked, though...I'm allergic to nearly everything outdoors during the summer months (except the sun, thank heavens!). All through my childhood I wished someone would explain to me how a child born to a farming family could have hay fever, etc.
I used to wake up in the middle of the night and have slits where my eyes should have been! I even remember having to miss track and field awards day in elementary school because of swollen eyes...oh the horror!
Hehehe...who knew your innocent little dandelion post would provoke such memories and emotions?
I want to know the origin of the whole "mama had a baby and her (its?) head popped off" thing......
